Group Dining

Group meals can be some of the most fun and memorable times you take away from a weekend away together. Spending quality time sitting, eating, talking and listening. However, organising and planning group meals just isn’t as easy as when it’s just the 2 of you. Booking in advance is definitely recommended, and sometimes preselecting your menu is a really good idea.

Generally speaking, if you’re on a weekend away, you’re not familiar with the area despite the fact that most of the people in your group will assume you’re the expert on everything! This means a lot of research for you, but here at HDK we can be your local expert, and we also post lots of helpful information and What’s On Tips for the area.

Food normally needs to fit in around your activities or events, and again this can be challenging. Firstly, check if there are any local pubs or restaurants near to your accommodation, and check them out before coming to stay. See if they take group bookings and if you have to pre-order. If you’re getting out and about over the weekend, ask if there are any recommended pubs or restaurants on route or at the activity centre. Some activity centres will be able to offer a good selection of food options, whereas some don’t offer anything at all.

Big piece of advice here. Don’t forget about breakfast! We know some great places that do a cracking breakfast. It’ll set your group off on the right foot, and it will fuel you up for a fun filled day. It may sound a great idea cooking breakfast for everyone, but post first night drinking you may not be feeling as enthusiastic.

Some of our groups simply love the idea of being out in the stunning Derbyshire countryside and want that gastropub experience. While others love the thought of a gastropub for dinner, but want a bit of a boogie afterwards. None of this is a problem with our Cracking Night Out option. Get collected from your accommodation and taken to one of the fabulous local gastropubs. Have a superb, locally sourced meal before being whisked away to the nearest towns or city centre afterwards. We can even arrange a pickup so you don’t have to worry about herding your group into a load of taxis at the end of the evening.

Want a bit of both? No problem – our Cracking Nights Out are totally bespoke to you and you’re in charge. We can happily chat through many of the options when you’re ready.

Hopefully that has given you some handy tips on what to think about if your stepping out for food! (Watch out for our blogs on the top restaurants and pubs in the area dropping soon.) However, if you’re looking at the food coming to you, look out for our next blog on onsite catering.
