What’s on in Winter in Derbyshire and surrounding areas?

 

There are some great activities to get up to in November and December in Derbyshire. Whether you are getting together with friends or work colleagues, here is a list of events in Derbyshire and the surrounding areas that are great for groups.

 

Chatsworth

Often described as the Jewel of Derbyshire, Chatsworth deserves its title! This year Chatsworth House is being magically transformed into the mystical frozen realms of the far north, open from the 5th of November to the 8th of January. You can also stroll through the illuminated gardens!

The highly popular Chatsworth Christmas Markets open on the 5th of November and end on the 23rd of November.

 

Christmas Markets

A great backdrop for any group get-together or outing! Soak up the atmosphere with loads of festive food and drink. Not to mention, a great shopping opportunity as well. The Christmas Markets start in November – just click the links below for more information.

Derby Ethical Christmas Market (Saturday 5th November)

Christmas Market at Thornbridge, near Bakewell (Friday 18th November)

Bakewell Christmas Markets Weekend (19th to 20th November)

Matlock Victorian Christmas Markets ( Friday 2nd to the 4th December)

Buxton Christmas Market (Saturday 10th December)

 

If you are looking for more artisan markets than the Derbyshire Makers Christmas Artisan Fair, Darley Dale near Matlock (13th & 14th November) or the Winter Artesian Market at Haddon Hall, running over three weekends Thursday to Sunday from the 17th of November & finishing on the 4th of December, are great options to consider.

 

Other Events

Don’t forget the races can be a momentous day out, and Uttoxeter Racecourse is holding the Marstons Beer Festival Raceday on Saturday 12th November, and afternoon racing on Sunday the 20th of November.
