What’s on in July

Right from the 1st July there are some fabulous activities and events on in Derbyshire and the surrounding areas. There really is so much on this month – and here are some of our top picks.

It all begins with Food & Drink….

The Cheese Lovers Festival (on Friday 1st July – Saturday 2nd July at Staffordshire County Show Ground) is one of the UK’s largest food and drink festivals, including cooking inspiration, shopping and tasting.

If you’re up for a more local vibe, check out the Amber Valley Beer and Cider Festival (Friday 1st July – Saturday 2nd July) and there is the Elvaston Food & Drink Festival (Saturday 9th July – Sunday 10th July at Elvaston Showground Derby). This festival keeps growing year on year. You can enjoy street food, artisan stalls, entrainment and gift and craft stalls.

Finishing the month off the Great British Food Festival is at Hardwick Hall (Friday 29th July – Sunday 31st July at Hardwick Hall Derbyshire). The Great British Food Festival is the number one food festival, touring heritage venues across the country. They know what they’re doing and you can be guaranteed an enjoyable day out!

Y Not forget the festivals…

The biggest music festival of the month is Y Not Festival (Thursday 28th July to Saturday 31st July at Pikehall Derbyshire) and it has the biggest line up yet, including Stereophonics, Courteeners, Blossoms, The Kooks, Manic Street Preachers and many many more.  Eureka Party in the Park (Sunday 17th July in Eureka Park) is a more local vibe with music, food and artisan stalls.

The Rosa Festival (Friday 15th July to Sunday 17th July is located in the Peak District) is a gathering of likeminded creatives aiming to bring people together from all backgrounds to produce an intimate community feel with the most ultimate of vibes.

Bresbet Ladies Day (Friday 22nd July at Uttoxeter Racecourse) is not a true music festival, but it is come to be a great day out and party! Watch exciting horse racing, and then dance the afternoon away to a live DJ set from Take That’s Howard Donald!

And there is still more….

Running through out most of July the Buxton Festival Fringe offers loads of great performances, events and exhibitions.

Throughout Derbyshire and the surrounding areas there are several outdoor cinema screenings of films such as Mamma Mia. Carsington Water has a screening on Saturday 23rd July.
