Location, Location, Location
The hardest and most crucial decision that you’re going to make in organising a stag or hen do is finding the best location. This basically sets the scene for the whole weekend. Get this wrong at the start, and before the weekend begins the group are going to turn on you.
Initially you may have giddy thoughts of sunny white party islands. Step back a sec and look at it. The reality of cost, travel restrictions and Covid currently make this a bad choice for a group experience. It may sound amazing on paper, but if no one can afford it or can risk the isolation time it may end up as a romantic break for 2. Don’t get too carried away – this needs to be affordable for everyone, and not just a select few.
This naturally narrows down your search area to the UK, and that still gives you plenty of choice and variation. Obviously, you have the big cities, especially good for those who want to spend 90% of their time in bars and nightclubs drinking and dancing. However, for those of you that want a little bit more than a Saturday night out there is a better option, and one that minimises your Covid risk.
Why not choose a large party house, with indoor and outdoor room for everybody. Add a hot tub if you fancy. Not only does this give you more choice in staying in or going out – it’s the perfect back drop to spend your weekend in whatever way you want. Choose the right location, and although your accommodation may be nestled away in the countryside, you can still visit the big cities for that full-on night out.
The Midlands may not be first choice on your list. But think about it. It’s called The Midlands for a reason. We’re in the Middle! Easy to get to, wherever the members of your group are travelling from. Choose wisely, and you’ll be located amongst stunning countryside. Just look at the Peak District National Park. It’s gorgeous, has bucket loads of stuff to do, is close by to some great city centres and is easier to get to than the Cotswolds, the Lake District, Wales or the South Coast.
Looking at those alternatives mentioned above, is quaint villages and romantic pubs really what you’re looking for in a group experience? No, us neither.
As well as all this stunning and varied countryside, the large cities of Birmingham, Nottingham, Sheffield, Manchester and Derby are all less than an hour away. Derby is in the short list for city of culture 2025! Smaller towns such as Ashbourne, Buxton and Matlock can also offer great venues. And we can get you to wherever tickles your fancy in our minibuses and coaches.
Great indoor and outdoor activities, belting accommodation and bags of tremendous gastro pubs all add up to the perfect location for your accommodation choice.
Now we’ve narrowed down your first challenge, watch out for our next blog on how to pick the perfect accommodation. We’ve got your back!
