With most of our private dinners being held right in the heart of the Peak District, 9 times out of 10 it only seems fit to end these amazing events with ‘a slice of Derbyshire heritage.

The famous Bakewell Pudding!

For many years the on-going debate has been raging on – Is it a tart? Or is it a pudding? I’m sure most people from Bakewell itself would insist that it is a pudding, and I’m sorry to say I have to agree with them. With its crisp, golden flaky pastry on the bottom, then topped with a layer of sieved jam, topped with an egg and almond paste filling. This pudding truly is a dessert to be tried. Served with lashings of homemade custard, its just the thing on a cold night for finishing off a fantastic dinner party in the comfort of your own home.

With a lot of our stag and hen do’s we cater for in the Peak District, in some amazing cottages provided by Greg at Hard Days Knight, I feel it completely, almost compulsory to use local produce in the fantastic settings that all these cottages are located in, and getting the food at its best while its in season on your doorstep.

It really is the Rolls Royce of activates. Sit back, relax, enjoy some wine while your food is cooked by a team of professional chefs and arrives at your table, served by waiters. All in a self catering cottage you ask???? Definitely! These are the ideal places to have a private dinner party and also your own private chef for the evening. Experience how the other half live! Well for one night at least.

You can design your own menu, match wines to your courses, have a swanky canapé reception beforehand. The possibilities are endless. Whether you’re wanting that fancy taster menu, or just an informal BBQ and beers with the lads round, get in touch at www.craigfloatechef.com for all your catering needs, and leave the washing up to us. We insist!
