Not heard of Tubing before? We can promise that you’re in for a treat. This is one of the best water sports in the Peak District.
Jump into your custom ‘built for the river’ tube and take float down the lower section of the beautiful Peak District river rafting run.
During your 90 minute float you’re going to navigate your way through many twists and turns of the River Derwent. You sit in the tubes with your bum in the water, so you’ll resemble a group of turtles on their backs. Just go with it – you’ll love it.
After messing about and pushing each other out of the tubes, and belly laughing at members of your group who can’t steer and spend much of their time bouncing off rocks, it’s time to take on the rapids in style. We say in style, but what we actually mean is you’re going to be bounced down the river like rubber ducks.
This activity is at it’s best when there’s a decent group of you all working the river and rapids together – and it’s hilarious.
Your River Guide (kayak based) will give you the low down to safely navigate your way downstream, then it’s over to you.
Maneuvering your tube around the river is actually quite possible. The specifically designed neoprene hand paddles are effective even in the white stuff. You wear them on your hands to steer, so skill plays it’s part here too. This is water sports in the Peak District like you’ve never seen them before.
After the activity we’ll take you back to the starting point in our mini bus, and you’ll be pleased to hear there’s a great country pub there too. What’s not to like?
The pub can also offer you the use of its showers if you fancy getting cleaned up after the activity, and there may be a small charge for this. We recommend booking this with the pub directly once you’ve made your booking.
