This well-equipped and spacious Ambergate accommodation was built in the 1840s as the chief engineers residence during the construction of the Midland Railway and has now been sensitively modernised and extended to offer terrific accommodation in this lively and attraction-rich region of Derbyshire

The house retains some original character and much Mediterranean styling, with a cast-iron wood-stove, pine doors, and many areas of Spanish-tiled floors with scatter-rugs. Sensitive remodelling has created a comfortable lounge with a pretty morning room, and the picture windows look across the old Station to river meadows and valley woodland below, with plenty of space for groups to spread out

The BBQ, covered terrace, conservatory and inset patio chess board are great fun!

On the ground floor of this Ambergate accommodation there’s a large open-plan lounge with wood-stove & dining area, and with separate sitting/games area (with table football). A large beamed conservatory through double-doors from lounge, with separate washroom off. Quality fitted galley kitchen, with access to living room & conservatory, and serving-hatch to terrace
There are six en-suite bedrooms, nos 1-5 with wall mounted remote-control TVs: The top floor vaulted attic triple bedded room (no TV). There is a full-sized framed double sofa bed in conservatory

Oil-fired central heating from twin systems, wood-stove in living room, (2 baskets of logs supplied 1st Nov to Easter)
Satellite TV/ DVD with video & family films, Wi Fi, large US-style fridge freezer with ice-maker
There is a roomy front terrace with inset tiled chess board – Chess-pieces on request – with fine views up the wooded Derwent valley; and a large and secluded rear terrace with covered barbecue area and rustic outdoor dining table. Extra drinks fridge in barbecue area. Parking for 6 cars

All the fun with no drama

I used HDK events when organising my friends long-awaited hen party in Bakewell at the weekend. Greg was fantastic from the word go and had the patience of a saint supporting me throughout the booking process! If you want an easily organised, unique trip, organised in a chilled out environment, Hard Days Knight is the company for you.

Amazing from first contact with Greg to leaving the property on the final day. Organising a large group weekend away was difficult after the country reopened after Covid but Greg made everything seem easy. From finding us the perfect location for a house, booking us a great event to the finer details of pub/restaurant recommendations.
